Industrial maintenance represents the management of all technical and administrative activities related to the lifecycle of equipment and facilities. It is focused on maintaining certainty of the level of availability and reliability of these assets, their components and their ability to perform at a standard level of quality, environmental safety and operational costs. Corrective and preventive maintenance provide the following types of activities, which are focused on: correcting existing failures such as a repairs and complete overhaul, extending the life of asset, such as cleaning, lubrication, adjusting, replacements of minor components etc., or avoiding failure of inspections, testing and revisions.
Nowadays industrial maintenance has to collect and provide wide range of data about: facility evidence, facility related failures and repairs, planned outages, maintenance plans and schedules, human resource management, facility safety management, quality improvements, maintaining spare parts inventory, risk management, cost calculations and analysis or financial plans.
